Printer status not updating
After you upgrade the system to Windows 10 from Windows 7, 8 or 8.1, if your printer doesn’t work at all or doesn’t print properly, the printer driver is most probably damaged or incompatible with Windows 10.You can fix the issue by reinstalling and updating the printer driver.1) Power off and then power on your printer to restart it. 2) Check your printer connection: 2.2) If your printer is connected via wired network: make sure the cable to your printer is well connected to the Ethernet port.
So one of the first things you check is your printer’s connection with your PC.Also, some printer drivers come with client-side applications reporting ink/toner status - this would typically be unavailable as well if SNMP is disabled for the print queue. Also, as joequerty pointed out, the printing functionality itself is using a different protocol and would be unaffected.:-) You may not know this, but what we do every day, is making things easier: we write articles that are easy to read; we write instructions easy to follow; we make complicated things easy to understand... It’s a weekday and you need to print out a file for an important meeting in 30 minutes. So feel free to let me know how you think I should write better, I'm open to all sorts of constructive suggestions. You open the file and click the Print button, and wait for the printer to work. Then, a message pops up at the bottom-right corner of your PC desktop saying that your printer is offline.
